Life is tootling along for us, much as it always does.
The pups are both doing well. We have built a pen for them out of pallets to try and save some of our lawned areas. It looks like a stockade. They have a large old willow tree stump in there that they are digging away at.
The chickens are fine too. The Welsummer began laying a few weeks ago and we are really pleased with her dark brown eggs. This is her first egg. I need to take some photo's against the other eggs to really show off the colour. The shells are really tough too.
Thank you to everyone who popped by with Season's Greetings for us. We had a quiet Christmas at home with goose for Christmas dinner. Lots of lovely goose fat but we were surprised that there seemed to be very little meat on a goose.
We also had a weekend away in January and I shall be back with more about that later.

Nice to see you back. Wondered where you had gone.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Glenda.
DeleteIt's good to see that all is well, and you've been tootling along happily.
ReplyDeleteI don't recollect ever having eaten goose so can't comment about the lack of meat on yours.
A weekend away at this time of year is always welcome, I look forward to reading more about where you went.
And a Happy New Year to you too! Flighty xx
Thank you, Flighty. I have been very remiss in my blog reading too but hope to catch up soon.
DeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteCheers! Must pop by your blog and see how you're doing :)
DeleteHappy New Year to you too! I have been ringing in the new year on my blog for nearly a month, so haven't been around much either. I'm happy to hear all is well with you. What a beautiful looking egg! Yes, it would be a great idea to see the darker ones in a photo with the others for comparison. Doggie seems to be a little disgruntled to have its exploring limited, but it makes sense to have a barrier to the rest of the garden. I'm sure they get plenty of walks. Did the snow inconvenience you in any way?
ReplyDeleteThe dogs get plent of walks but, as they are still babies, we can't walk them too far. This works well as our older dog doesn't want to go too far :)
DeleteThe snow didn't really hit us too badly here and what we had disappeared very quickly.
Same as Glenda, nice to see you back, our chickens have carried on laying most days just having an odd day off, when all my friends chickens have stopped so I am really lucky. Its great to have different chickens as you you can keep a track who is laying what
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Our Warrens pretty much lay all year round with odd hiccups when it's windy.
DeleteAs a sporadic blogger myself, I will just return your wishes for a Happy New Year :) Glad you and all critters are doing well xxx
