We have just spent a long weekend walking in the Lake District.
We stayed in a cottage in Far Sawrey and this was the view we had of Lake Windermere.
The weather was bitterly cold but the skies were blue and the sun was shining. For the first time ever, in all our visits to The Lakes, we had no rain!
We are early risers. We were out on the Fells at first light and were rewarded with sightings of Deer.
One group were close to the Cottage but we stood and gawped at them too long to get any decent photographs. We just stood very still watching them whilst they watched us.
Magical.
We had a second sighting up on the Fells. Again, no chance for photographs as they simply crossed our path about 50 yards in front of us.
Travelling up to the Lakes we saw a cloud filled Valley, which we eventually descended into.
At first glimpse I thought there was a fire. It was quite spectacular to see, and my Photo's do not do it justice. We were trolling along at speed whilst I hung the camera out of the window though. I should also say that I was not driving at the time!
We had a wonderful weekend. Jilly thoroughly enjoyed herself and we are back, refreshed and ready to start another year of growing.

Now I have to check with you on this bitterly cold stuff? Was it minus 32? That's what we were this morning in Alberta , Canada.
ReplyDeleteGood point, Red! You beat me on coldness, just hope you are cosy.

DeleteGlad you had such a lovely weekend, I'm not surprised of course - this is the most beautiful place! Wish I'd known you were coming over, perhaps we could have managed a coffee? Haven't forgotten I am to send you some of Ollie's sunflowers . . . they are safely in cold store and I'll be sorting seeds for this season soon.
ReplyDeleteWe love it, even when it rains!
DeleteNext time we head up that way I will let you know, can always find time for coffee.
Thank you for mentioning Ollie's Sunflowers, I am looking forward to growing them.
